On May 9, 2022, Young Thug was arrested on RICO charges, and Gunna, an artist arrested alongside him, did something that fans deemed inconceivable.

YSL (Young Slime Life or Young Stoner Life) artist and founder, most known for his eccentric vocal style and fashion, Jeffery Lamar Williams, otherwise known as Young Thug, was arrested on gang charges and on the conspiracy to commit RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act: a U.S. law, enacted in 1970, allowing victims of organized crime to sue those responsible for punitive damages) alongside other YSL members and associates. One very known YSL member arrested alongside young thug was Sergio Giovanni Kitchens, a hip hop artist most known for his rapping style and slang who goes by the stage name Gunna and did something that fans didn’t expect.

Since the beginning of the court case, Young Thug’s legal team and associates pushed the narrative that YSL is a record and nothing more due to the court believing that it is a street gang. But to end his ordeal, Gunna took an Alford plea deal that led him to tell jurors that YSL is a gang. Gunnas’s statement has caused fans to believe he has ruined young thugs’ defense, subsequently giving him the title snitch.

“He said YSL is a gang when thugs’ whole defense was that it’s not,” says Reddit user IdolsAndAnchoresss “*crying laughing emoji* Bro snitched.”

Well, did he snitch?

According to [https://blackamericaweb.com/2022/12/16/did-gunna-snitch/], Gunna did not “snitch” or cooperate with law enforcement officials, legally speaking. The entire miss conception stems from Gunnas plea deal and his statements that acknowledged that YSL is a gang.

“YSL is a music label and a gang, and you have personal knowledge that members or associates of YSL have committed crimes in furtherance of the gang,” asked the judge.

“Yes, ma’am,” said Gunna.

After taking his plea deal Gunna issued a statement to the public to clear up any miss conceptions.

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated” Gunna continues to say” [I] have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.

In a former statement issued in court, Gunna said that when he joined YSL in 2016, he didn’t consider it a gang, but “more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations. My focus of YSL was entertainment — rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the Black community.”]

Per the terms of the deal, Gunna pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and was released after his sentence was commuted to time served while Young Thug still remains in jail.
