The Parkdale Girls Lacrosse team have recently opened their season with a Saturday game against Wise High School resulting in a (6-4) win. Then on Monday, the GLAX team secured another win against Fairmont Heights High School resulting in the final score of (7-5).
In these games, we saw an improvement in both skills and chemistry in the team from last year, as captain of the team, senior Alejandra Pineda, says, “I notice that we have improved transitioning and overall some major things that we needed to improve on from last year.”

The team began their conditioning in late November with their assistant coach, Coach Jeremy Beller, to become strong and more prepared for the spring season. From that conditioning, they were able to secure a team larger than ever with both returning players and a plethora of new players. Pineda says, “I think this year’s team is different because we have a lot more freshmen and new players that need experience.”
The experience that was needed seems to be working in their favor as the Parkdale team continues to win with at least a two point lead in each game.
The team continues to work hard with practices everyday to become stronger than ever with both their coaches, Coach Beller and head coach, Sara Lail. They work on skills and physical stamina everyday to help become a stronger team together.
Practicing everyday also helps build a bond between the players, as junior and returning player Samantha Eury says, “The team’s chemistry is strong and continues to grow everyday.”
The team appears to be close as Pineda also states, “The team chemistry is amazing, we all try to communicate on the field as well as off.”
The hope for the team is to continue some of the large success that the team had last year, being second overall in the 4A region, ultimately losing to Eleanor Roosevelt High School in the finals. Pineda says, “To make it to finals this year is to not give up and keep giving our 100% through everything.” She continues saying “I know we can make it if we keep pushing and working on our skills during practice and in games.”
Even if the team is able to achieve their main goals this year, the experience from being on the GLAX team can stay with each of the girls forever, as Pineda puts it, “We all have a bond, we are all like a family.”
Join in on supporting the team at their next home game, where they will play Laurel High School on April 1st, at 5:30.
