Coming to Parkdale my junior year was a hard decision for me because I disliked the process of switching schools, well mostly making new friends, learning how to communicate in a new environment and so much more. I am a type of person that once I am comfortable in a new environment and I also adapt to that environment it is quite hard for me to switch out of that environment.
Well that was how it was for me when i first came to parkdale. Once I arrived at Parkdale the environment was new to me. It felt like it was going to take me months to be able to communicate with people, teachers especially. But a few weeks prior to my arrival at parkdale I did a little research about the school. I wanted to know what to expect when I arrived at Parkdale, I wanted to know if I would feel welcome.
Fast forward to my first day at parkdale which was Sep,19th 2022 my 11th grade year I arrived at parkdale really unprepared. What I mean by unprepared is that I wasn’t ready for my ID picture. I didn’t like the school pants that I had . Basically, I didn’t feel comfortable at all.
During my junior year most of my classes were on the first floor and I had just one class downstairs. I got used to the first floor because I was constantly there so switching classes to come downstairs was kind of confusing for me.
I made my first friend on my first day at parkdale. It was really unexpected because at my previous schools it would take me 2 weeks or a month to even have a conversation with other students.
Fast forward to senior year which was my most pleasant year. I had the best senior year ever, it went so smoothly because I got used to the school and I got used to the environment as well. Also I loved the teachers, I loved my classes and I loved every hour I spent at parkdale.
Based on my experience at parkdale I would say parkdale High School taught me a lot, it opened me up to a lot of opportunities, also good people and the best teachers/Admins.
Although there are a lot of things I wished I participated in during my two years at parkdale. Things like SGA (Student Government Association), sports and after school activities. But I also didn’t want to be distracted from my classes so I had to make the decision that was best for me.
Additionally Parkdale helped me in so many pleasant ways, it helped me gain back communication skills, it helped me build a great friend group, it opened me up to positive opportunities and so much more.
