Spring break is all about having fun and getting that break we all need from school. With many local schools going on spring break, you may not know what to do. There are multiple activities and hobbies you could do during this spring break and it won’t leave your pockets empty.
National Cherry Blossom Festival
This 2022 Festival is the 110th anniversary of the gift of trees from the Mayor of Tokyo to Washington, DC. This event only takes place once a year. You can enjoy a display of large colorful balloons, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the country, celebrity entertainers, and performers parading down Constitution Avenue.
The Annapolis Book Festival
Every year thousands of people enjoy this free community Festival that celebrates the beauty, power, passion, and excitement of the written word. This Festival is entering its 19th year, bringing nationally and internationally renowned authors to the community to discuss their books and the craft of writing. The Festival features a day filled with children’s activities, live music, food, and a huge book sale.
Easter Monday at the Smithsonian National Zoo
With Easter approaching us The Smithsonian’s National Zoo is celebrating Easter Monday on April 18. Throughout the day, the Zoo will offer family focused activities, from an Easter egg hunt with different prizes to Tortoise feeding, Elephant Demonstration, Tiger Feeding, and live entertainment. You’ll also get a chance to meet Panda Pal.
Outdoor Time at the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail
If you like walking Trails. You’ll enjoy the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. This trail runs along both sides of the Anacostia River through the Capitol Riverfront and Anacostia neighborhoods. This trail is 20 miles long. You can run, bike or stroll down the 10-12 foot wide trail. When complete this trail is expected to be 25 miles long.
Spring Cleaning
Lastly, if you don’t want to get out of the house, you could always do some spring cleaning by spraying down windows and dusting blinds, wiping walls, freshening up carpets, deep cleaning the refrigerator and more. Deep cleaning can reduce stress, by increasing the likelihood of a positive attitude and a clear mindset.
